Getting started with the Safee electronic work diary

This is the full introduction to the Safee app: how the timeline replaces the paper work diary sheet, how to record work and rest, and how to use the Activity Monitor to plan your rests. It runs about ten minutes.

THE TIMELINE REPLACES THE SHEET

Work is drawn as a yellow line and rest as a grey one. The timeline is continuous, so you scroll up or down to move between days rather than flipping pages, and each calendar day starts at midnight with a date label. At the current moment on the timeline you see your total work and rest for the current 24 hours, along with the breach counter.

THE THREE CONTROLS YOU USE MOST

The action wheel sits at your thumb for the frequent tasks. The top bar holds your last 28 days, the connection status lamp, and the actions you use less often. The total work and rest monitor shows the totals for the most relevant 24-hour period when periods overlap.

RECORDING YOUR FIRST WORK

Open the action wheel, choose W/R Switch, set the time, pick the location on the map, type in the speedo reading, and confirm. The work line is drawn immediately, the work and rest monitor starts counting, and the upcoming rest indicator shows when you need to stop.

PLANNING RESTS WITH THE ACTIVITY MONITOR

Press the total work and rest counter, or the eyeglasses icon, to open the Activity Monitor. The Horizon box lines up every future rest: which period it belongs to, how long until it starts, the exact time it must be started, and its minimum duration. Most rest types can be combined — NHVR calls this concurrent fulfilment. The exception is the four night rests required in a 14-day period, two of which must be consecutive.
